Welcome!

I'm Amanda, and I am currently a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science (HPS) at the University of Pittsburgh.

Before coming to Pitt, I was a McDonnell PNP (Philosophy-Neuroscience-Pyschology) postdoctoral fellow at Washington University in St. Louis as well as a postdoctoral fellow working under the direction of Bence Nanay at the Centre for Philosophical Psychology at the University of Antwerp.

My research focus can be found at the intersection of biomedical ethics, philosophy of psychiatry, and philosophy of mind. The unifying thread that connects my research is the study of mental disorder and the insights it can give us into human agency.

I completed my PhD in philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin in 2021. Before coming to UT Austin, I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2016. I am originally from Saint Paul, Minnesota.
